Not only has it emerged as the highest opener of 2014, the opening day earning of “Singham Returns” is highest ever for Devgn. `Singham Returns` was released on lesser screens as compared to “Kick”, but the film benefitted from the Independence Day holiday on Friday, raking in more than 32 crore. DCP Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn) is a people’s hero and is ready to fight all things corrupt. Avni (Kareena Kapoor Khan) plays his ladylove and supports him in his endeavours. His mission begins when a corrupt godman Swami Ji (Amole Gupte) and his wily side-kick Prakash Rao (Zakir Hussain) kills Guruji (Anupam Kher).

On the very first morning of the movie there was a 80%-90% occupancy for the morning show which is considered to be fairly good.The film opened to over 4000 screens worldwide, which includes 3600 screens in India and 410 screens in overseas market, while “Kick” India screen count was more than 4000.The advance booking received phenomenal response and the morning show occupancy was massive. The film was expected to open well in Mumbai, Pune, National Capital Region (NCR) and Hyderabad region. With more than 30 crore income, the film has gained the fourth spot in the top opening day earnings list.
Singham Returns’ is the most awaited sequels of ‘Singham’ which was a great success when it was released. This has been the best response that a Ajay Devgan has ever received. The audiences have well accepted the film in Gurgaon and Delhi as well. Maharashtra circuit saw maximum collections for the film, while collections in Mumbai stand to make records for the movie. North was good while south saw low collections due to the regional language releases.

Taran Adarsh; SINGHAM RETURNS is a complete mass entertainer with power-packed drama, hi-intensity dialogue and towering performances as its aces. The brand value attached to it coupled with a long weekend will help the film reap a harvest and rule the box-office in days to come.
Rohit Khilnani; The dream team of Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn delivers a good entertainer. It’s for fans of brand Singham and I’m sure they are all out there in large numbers.
Mohar Basu; Singham Returns doesn’t match up to Singham and that is the failure of this franchise venture. It is definitely a very watchable film with Ajay putting in his best foot forward in a role that brings out his caliber to the fullest.
Overall looking at the advance booking, it seems that the film will be faring extremely well in metros since the multiplexes are showing a good occupancy for it’s coming up days after it’s first day public response and word of mouth will definitely give more accelerate in box office.
